Office By-laws
The main duty of the President is to serve as chief executive officer for the Student Senate and to oversee all functions in accordance with the Student Body Constitution and governing By-laws.
The President shall:
1. Follow the Constitution of the Student Senate, General Office By-laws and office-specific By-laws.
2. Exercise the legislative and executive rights of the Student Body.
3. Exercise all additional rights necessary or required to serve the best interests of the Student Body and the college.
4. Oversee the performing duties related to each Student Senator established in the By-laws.
5. Represent the students at functions where official student representation is deemed advisable. If the President is unable to be the official student representation, the President will appoint another Student Senator.
6. Appoint students to committees from the membership of the Student Senate, Student Life Office, and Student Body.
7. Call to order and preside at Student Senate meetings.
8. Be responsible for the cancellation of Student Senate meetings.
9. Maintain close contact with club/organization representatives.
10. Oversee work and representation of the Student Senate as a whole.
11. Oversee the completion of the Student Senate office hours.
12. Give a speech at Spring Commencement.
13. Oversee any circumstances mandating a vote of the Student Senate.
This set of By-laws shall take effect upon the affirmation by the Student Senate.
